Sustainability Statement

We take sustainability in fashion seriously and are constantly learning. Truthfully, there is no such thing as true sustainability in fashion, but we try our best. Among many factors, it is always a balance of clean energy, eco-fabrics, fair wages, ethical factories with safe working conditions, and cost for both Enketta and our customers. At the very least, we will always be transparent and strive to do better.

Our current efforts towards sustainability:

  • Our supply chain is based as close to home as possible. We know we have a long way to go. Right now, we are producing and dying clothing in small batches in California. This means less emissions from shipping overseas, and reliably ethical working conditions.
  • We are committed to minimizing waste by using up all ordered fabric, even if it means carrying it over to the next season
  • We are continuously sourcing for more sustainable materials and practices
  • We will be using recyclable and biodegradable packaging and tags for every shipment or order

What you can do to help:

  • Invest in pieces of clothing you love and hope to wear for many years.
  • Cherish your clothing, no matter where you buy it from. Repair it as many times as you can, and get it tailored to fit better if needed.
  • Consider line-drying clothing instead of putting it in the dryer. It’s better for the environment and your clothing will last longer.
  • When it is time, discard your clothing responsibly - donate or gift what you don't wear anymore to loved ones. If the garment is truly hopeless, try upcycling it or turning it into something new, or just turning it into cleaning rags. Once those are done, consider finding a recycling program that can take old textiles and clothing and make it into something new. Never throw your clothing in the trash.

We have plenty more ideas and hopes for making Enketta and our community as sustainable as possible. As Enketta grows, we will be integrating our scraps into creating one-of-a-kind pieces and creative projects. We will be exploring circularity by making our garments as recyclable as possible. Stay tuned to see how this develops, and follow us on Instagram to join the conversation.
